Pursuant to the Code Section below, PHCCVA (Plumbing,Heating Cooling Contractors of Virginia) will be offering, at different times and locations throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, Continuing Education Classes in Plumbing Code, Mechanical Code, Electric Code and Fuel Gas Code. The dates and locations may be found on this website, and as soon as registration forms are available, they may be downloaded from the website. For a list of other approved providers of continuing education, please go to the DPOR website listing all approved providers of continuing education for the trades. PHCCVA is by no means the only source of these classes, but as a service to all Plumbing, HVA, Electric and Fuel Gas contractors, we will provide classes as often and in as many locations as we possibly can. 18VAC50-30-120. Renewal.
A. Licenses and certification cards issued under this chapter shall expire two years from the last day of the month in which they were issued as indicated on the license or device worker certification card.
B. Effective with all licenses issued or renewed after December 31, 2007, as a condition of renewal or reinstatement and pursuant to §54.1-1133 of the Code of Virginia, all individuals holding tradesman licenses with the trade designations of plumbing, electrical and heating ventilation and cooling shall be required to satisfactorily complete three hours of continuing education for each designation and individuals holding licenses as liquefied petroleum gas fitters and natural gas fitter providers, one hour of continuing education, relating to the applicable building code, from a provider approved by the board in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.
PHCCVA and PHCC of NV offer Backflow Certification Courses around the state and metro DC area. This is the course needed to be eligible to sit for the Virginia exam. It also qualifies for certification in Maryland and through WSSC and WASA. Register now for a date and location convenient for you by visiting our Education Page. The Backflow Certification Course, taught by Jim Yacovissi, meets requirements for backflow certification in Maryland, WSSC and Virginia. This course includes classroom instruction and a wet lab. Class size is limited to 15.
