In November Thos. Somerville announced the departure of Plumbing Sales and Product Manager, Mike Holmes to join NH Yates.  Lancaster Branch Manager, Randy Reinard will assume that role.  Reinard will be replaced at the Lancaster Branch by Joe Wilson, outside salesman.  DJ Ream, already scheduled to be promoted to Outside Sales on January 1, 2016, will take responsibility for much of Wilson’s territory. 

Kenneth A. Long Dies 

 

    Kenneth A. Long, Sr., of Long's Corporation (Fairfax)  passed away the evening of October 24 after a bout of pneumonia.  He had just turned 89 on October 12.  Mr. Long was born in Fairfax County 1926; was a graduate of Fairfax High School Class of 1944 and alumni of George Washington University. He worked for the Office of Scientific Research and Development during WWII. He married his wife Margaret in 1947 and then went to work with his father, E.W. Long at Long's Corporation where he became President and CEO. He held Master Plumber, Master Mechanical, and Master Gasfitter licenses in Virginia. He was a Past President of Northern Virginia PHCC and a Past President of Virginia PHCC. He was a fifty year member of the Henry Masonic Lodge.

     He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Douglas Wates and husband Byron and Theresa Long Dagenhart and husband Michael; daughter-in-law, Pamela Long; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret A. Long; his son Kenneth A. Long, Jr.; his father Everett W. Long; his mother Helen T. Long; and his brothers, Everett N. Long and Calvin R. Long.

     The family has not identified a specific charity for those who may want to make a memorial gift, but did indicate an affinity for the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins (Johns Hopkins Medicine, 550 N. Broadway, Suite 731 Baltimore, MD 21205).
